The huge oven is the heart of the stove. Revolutionary design makes total sense, yet is the total opposite of every wood cookstove on the market.
Other stoves try to pull the smoke over the top of the oven, down the side, around the bottom, and then back out the top. Heat rises naturally, it makes more sense to vent the firebox off of the side so the heat travels under the oven, up the side, over the top, and out of the flue. This also significantly reduces the creosote build up which can be difficult to clean out.

Obadiah’s 2000 Wood Cookstove vs. Kitchen Queen Cook Stove - Product Review
Cooktop Review: Obadiah’s 2000 Wood Cookstove by Heco
Thank You for all your hard work getting us our wood stove and chimney parts! We finally got all the bits and pieces of the chimney and our stove has been up and keeping us warm and fed for over a week now. In the end the one chimney piece that we had to wait for was delivered by an old friend of ours who usually drives for UPS in another area. We made contact with him and his family again which was a great bonus. Thanks again for sticking with this and providing a great wood cook stove. I’ll attach a picture of it installed.
I was just sitting here and thanking God for the wonderful heat this wood cook stove puts out. This makes the 3rd year we have been using the Kitchen Queen; and what a cook stove. This year has had some very cold days and with a wind chill down as low as –25 below. I have bought fuel oil back in the first week of November and haven’t bought any since; where before we would have had the tank filled once a month. Thanks to the people who labor to make our comfort here in PA. What a blessing we have received. In the past 3 years this Kitchen Queen has saved us several thousand dollars. It heats our home with ease, plus we use it for cooking and baking. My wife now would rather use the Kitchen Queen to cook on than our electric stove. We have had no problems at all; I mean "0" problems! I can’t tell you enough how much we are pleased with the purchase of this excellent crafted product . The quality is just outstanding, and the best money I ever spent. One truly happy customer here in PA.
Please share this note with everyone involved, because they truly need a pat on the back.
May God truly bless you all and may the new year be fruitful in the Lord.
We purchased the Queen because we wanted an emergency energy backup should zombies take over Oregon (a distinct possibility). It appears it will be more than enough. We don't usually have much freezing weather but our home is large with much of the ceiling being over 12 feet high so if it will heat a home like ours, I think it will heat a more normal home in a much colder climate. We haven't cooked on it much and I suspect our challenge there will be regulating the heat but the Queen is more than able to supply the heat we need for cooking or heating. We are well pleased
I finally got it installed this spring and it is AWESOME!!!! The firebox is the best I have ever used, it takes huge logs and holds a fire well over the advertised eight hours (I have beech wood, dried about a year). The "Supercharger" works just as they say: I had a good fire and the oven was at about 250 degrees F when I opened it; within five minutes the temperature went up to 475!
If you have the summer grate (well worth the money in the summer!) be sure to use small, split wood as dry as possible.
Overall, I could not be happier with my KQ!
Finally, the customer service folks here at Obadiah's are right on top of their game and one of the friendliest I have ever talked to!

Obadiah's Woodstoves is in my experience an exceptional business. The owners, Woody and Annette Chain, as well as their employees, are friendly and courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. They do exactly what they say they will do, promptly and efficiently. I could not ask for a better business with which to work, and I highly recommend them to anyone.
(Mary later purchased her Kitchen Queen 480.)
Thanks again , Woody, for a superior product.

We've had the KQ480 since last Sept. & have been using it for all our cooking and heating needs since then. Our house two stories and about 1200 sq ft. We wanted the larger oven, and I'm glad we went with the 480. We've had no problem baking multiple pizzas, a turkey, bread, cookies etc. We get temperatures down to -30 degrees Celsius up here, and the KQ always kept us toasty even though we haven't put any insulation in the floor. One complaint is that the warming oven is poorly designed. It's not wide enough to accommodate a dinner plate and the door folds up instead of down which makes getting things in and out awkward. We probably wouldn't spend the extra money on it if we were to do it again. We also find the thermometer very inaccurate, but Woody has suggested that's it's defective and to send it back to KQ. One final plus of the KQ; I find it draws really well, and it's really easy to build a fire in the cold stove.
If you are looking for a wood cook stove, I highly recommend the Kitchen Queen. I have had mine for a year and a half and it is the best stove you could ever have. It burns so clean and efficient and if you use properly seasoned wood, it has very low maintenance A once a year clean out is all that is needed. I love the oven. The oven cooks with moisture so food does not dry out. My granddaughter put in a piece of french bread to toast and forgot about it. I was putting something in for dinner 5 hours later and found her toast. It was very brown and crispy, but not at all burnt or inedible. We were surprised. The warming shelf on top keeps food at a serving temperature for hours. Obadiah Stoves is a wonderful place to purchase this stove. They will stand behind their products and spend time to work out any problems, (which I had with a different brand of stove) or questions you have. They are super to work with. Kitchen Queen is a top of the line quality stove. You will be happy with your purchase.
A very satisfied customer,
Patti Bowlin
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for our new Kitchen Queen Wood Cookstove. It is just AWESOME! I want to say that the stove is almost alive. It cooks our food, warms our house, and I can't wait to cook on it. Well, let me give notice that you can have your gas or electric stoves, I will take my wood cook stove. I swear that food cooked on this stove tastes better. I challenge you to prove me wrong. Our cat even likes sleeping by it. Obadiah's did all the work in ordering what I needed, and I installed it myself. Woody managed to have everything we needed on the first try - no reordering or changing parts. They know what they are doing. I ordered the bigger model. It is heavy, but I managed with the help of my wife and a couple of furniture dolly's to move it into place myself. I recommend, however, you get a couple of strong buddies to help move it into place. We feel like we have taken one more step toward getting ourselves off grid.
We could not be happier with this stove, Woody.

It is simple and understated in design yet has thoughtful details that make it beautiful as well as functional.
The oven interior is easy to keep clean. The thermometer in the oven door makes it easy to keep the right temperature, especially for a wood-cooking beginner like me. I was surprised at how easy it was to cook with. My first dinner using the stovetop and oven turned out perfectly! (I read and learned to use smaller chunks of wood to get a hotter, better controlled fire.)
The grate in the bottom of the firebox makes it very easy to clean out ashes. The rails that go around the outside are helpful to avoid burns from getting too close. The buyer should keep in mind that the stainless top will darken with use, but the rails and trim stays clean and bright.
Every detail of this stove seems to be well thought out and well implemented. We could not be more pleased.
